This is the ELITE League! WHY? Because I'm in it! The snooker is no better than ordinary but that's how we like it! The Boomtown Rats used to declare "They don't like Mondays" but I can tell you this lot did!
Past-Hero's :- Norm & Jeff:- (8th. place) The winners of the league of years gone by, but as they declared every week "The handicaps are to BIG". It don't help sometimes when the several pints of lager are taking effect and also going for the most outrageous pot on the table, but then again ........ it is Norm & Jeff!!!
Revie-Boys :- Phil & Harrison Reeve :-(7th. place) Daddy Phil, past Tuesday & Thursday night worker at the Club and USED to be a really good player! Was the instigator of the infamous club saying when screwing a ball back as "Lil-Power".( I bet you hoped I forgot that one!!!) Now there's Harrison, who beat me both times I played him and the second time with a completely ridiculous cross table double into the bottom pocket!!! You should have seen my face, I was gobsmacked!
Always happy with what was happening and a good laugh!
The Cookies :- Pa Cookie & the two crumbs! :- (equal 5th.) Where leading at the half way stage, then there was the handicap cut and they suffered badly! To be fair they played really well at the beginning and maybe were "batting" way above their status! Never moaned once about it and "diddy crumb" who's only 3 ft 6ins tall has the cheekiest grin ever (He beat me also!)
Baker Boys:- Simon & Ryan :- (equal 5th.) Last years overall winners and has their name on the winners board in the bar to prove it! Handicapped more severely this year but are both good players and fought hard all the way through the season. If they weren't up all night putting buns in ovens they could easily fit into one of our winter league teams.
The Undies:- Daddy & Adam Underdown :- (4th.) Two of the infamous family, could be the Krays of the snooker world. Why oh why does Adam always laugh when he sees me? It's getting on my nerves forever checking to see if my flies are undone! Done well in there first full year and are always whispering to the the Revie's. Could be some match fixing going on there!!!
Workaholics:- Jason & Wah! :- Mick (Unluckily 3rd) Wall. Jason carried him but BOY was Wah unlucky! Fed up with opponents saying Hell they were lucky OR that was the best they've played all season! Please remember it's not BIG and defiantly not FUNNY!!!! But seriously thanks for being so sporting and making it a great league to play in! Even if YOU WERE ALL B***** LUCKY!
Standowns:- Sam & Matty : (2nd.) Sam(not another Underdown) & Matty play a lot and have improved no end and are part of a group of young adults using the club who are a credit to be involved with. Pushed to win the league right up to the last game but the underhand (or maybe underdown) ploy of clearing off just before the last game of the season to get some more practice in DIDN'T work and finished a very close runners-up! Well done boys!
Potting Machines :- Lewis & Ryan :- (Champions elect!) Played well throughout, worthy winners and perfect gentleman (boys) on the table. Very well done..Another two who have improved and should be thinking of representing the club in the area Leagues!
