SATURDAY NIGHTS IN MAY

Pot Black is always trying to find something for our lovely customers to keep them occupied at the weekend. The next few weeks is no different.
Here is a run down of what is on in May,

SATURDAY 2ND May :- CREDIT CRUNCH POKER - £5 per player per game, quick and easy texas hold-em poker. All entry money is paid out to the winner and runner-up of each game. Each game lasts approx. an hour and usually we fit 3 games in per night.

ALSO - For anyone who has represented the club in one of our 7 Winter League snooker teams we are putting on a doubles snooker compo with free tables and Happy Hour drinks all night. be sure not to miss out!!!!

SATURDAY 9TH MAY :- QUIZ NIGHT - Ever popular, 60 questions, lyrics round, picture round and you even have a chance of picking the categories you know best. We have had different winners the past 3 nights proving ANYONE can win. If your really thick you could still walk away with a profit in the spot prize rounds!!!

SATURDAY 16TH MAY :- POT BLACK SERIES OF POKER - We have reached heat four of the tournament but it is not too late to take part if you've missed out so far. With the new rule of only 9 of your 12 results count, players still have the chance of playing 9 so don't be afraid. Prize money can be won on the night as well as at the end of the year. Last years Grand Prize was nearly £1500. DON'T FORGET YOUR JOKERS!!!

ALSO - The return of the Darts Quiff v's Harrod rivalry. A playgound picked team night between these to captains, Harrod won last years match with and i quote 'the worst team ever assembled' Quiff has already decleared that this year rather than picking dart players he will be looking for DRINKERS!!!

SATURDAY 30TH MAY :- FOOTBALL PRESENTATION NIGHT - With this year being the most successful in the Pot Black's Footballing History, this night is sure to go off with a bang!! Always a great night with many games and laughs to be had, one special highlight which cannot be missed is the POT BLACK DANCE OFF, reigning Champion Butch nows he will face much a much stiffer test this year with Harvey, Kez and Ross (yes Ross) all amongst the bookies favourites.

ALSO Don't Forget the £10quid jobby 6pm onwards on Saturday and Sunday nights on the snooker tables.

DREAM TEAM 29/04/09

Here it is as promised, the next dream team table. The Top Six has been consistent for the past month or so, all taking turns in what position they actually take each week. This will be all important when it comes to sharing the cash out at the end of the season.

Star Players this week have been Robinho, back to form with a virtuoso performance at Everton and also Terry holding out Barca last night. Ronaldo and Rooney also scored highly in Man Utd's incredible comeback against Spurs!

24HR-SNOOKER MARATHON

Just before Christmas last year Peter 'Bear' Clements, a local Guest House owner and Chris 'Snail' Read Pot Black Barman decided to do a 24-hour Snooker Marathon (in reflection perhaps to long!)

This gruelling event was made a little easier by the Pot Black's Football teams having one (of many) of their 'Footy Nights' where they were encouraged to donate generously to the cause... they didn't let us down, emptying their pockets at will. Surprising how a few beers loosens up them purse strings!

The night saw table football and pool competitions as well as a footy quiz, all of which saw the respective winners donating most of their winnings. Once the Footy do was over Bear and Snail struggled through the night and until 6pm the following evening eventually playing 98 frames in total and scoring well over 8000 points (Bear has asked me not to mention the score!) After weeks of barracking the Pot Black Customers Pete and Chris managed to raise over £500 and along with money collected throughout the year by fellow Barman Ian Blake they were able to present the Beach's 'Help an East Coast Child' appeal and the 'Oscar Reynolds Fund' cheques for £320 each.

Bear and Snail would like to give say thankyou to the footy guys as well as everyone else who donated generously in this current economic climate. A special thankyou must also go to Mick Wall, Club Manager, for organising the Night along with providing the table for the marathon for free! (although my wages did seem a little light that week)

Yet again another Pot Black Success, hope to see you all this year to take some more of your hard earned.

DREAM TEAM 22ND APRIL '09

Here it is the one all you keen Dream Team Managers have been waiting for... the Updated table. It's been a little while and the rumour in the club is that because I've dropped out of contention to the obscurity of mid-table I can't be bothered anymore! This isn't the case I've just had a weeks leave to drown my sorrows.

Not much has changed at the top of the table with the same old cronnies sniffing for the cash. You will be please to know that I have counted the transfer money up and that, to date, there is an extra £156 to boost the prize fund for the end of the year.

With 3 English teams still in the Champions League managers will be looking for alot of points from their big boys, Torres, Ronaldo, Lampard and clean sheets from Terry, Vidic and Toure.

SUNDAY 26TH APRIL :- SUFFOLK SENIOR CUP FINAL - Pot Black's Sunday Football team has won throught to the final of this major local final for the first time in their history. We are sending a coach over to Bungay to watch them play and hopefully win. Just £5 a head for the coach, then after the match back to the Potty Black for some light refreshments (Heavy if we win!!!) Limited coach space so hurry to reserve place!
